ECM Partners has agreed to acquire a 50% stake in Cyprus fintech company payable. in a transaction worth more than € 100 million. 

 

The transaction is significant for Cyprus as it represents one of the largest secondary fintech transactions involving a Cyprus-based company. For ECM Partners, the acquisition marks an entry into the electronic payments industry and further diversifies its investment portfolio beyond sectors such as healthcare and real estate.

 

Payabl. is a licensed electronic payments fintech headquartered in Limassol, with operations across several European markets. The company provides payment processing and related financial technology solutions and has expanded its offering beyond online acquiring into business accounts, physical payments and its payabl.one platform. ECM Partners is an investment firm active across Central and Southeastern Europe, with more than € 1 billion in invested capital and a portfolio spanning several sectors.

 

The fintech and wider tech sectors in Cyprus are experiencing significant growth since 2020, driven by local corporate growth as well as the relocation of several major international firms and entrepreneurs. The broader tech sector now accounts for over 14% of Cypriot Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
