Philip Ammerman supports the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition 2020

The Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition challenges scientists, startup founders, and hi-tech entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into real business opportunities. Organized by the University of Cyprus Centre for Entrepreneurship and sponsored by the Cyprus Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy, CyEC takes place against the backdrop of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the real economic challenges of 2020. Philip Ammerman has been appointed as one of the Competition judges.


Nicosia, Cyprus: 19 June 2020


CyEC welcomes business plans for innovative technologies, processes, business models, or other innovations. The Competition’s objective is to develop start-ventures or social enterprises that create competitive advantage and innovation. Anyone is free to participate.


The timeline for the Competition is:


  • Competition Launch and 1st Call for Applications: 19 June 2020

  • Information Day: June 2020 (tba)

  • Preparatory Workshops: June - July 2020 (tbc)

  • Submission of Executive Summaries: 14 September 2020

  • Announcement of Stage 1 Results: 28 September 2020

  • Appointment of Mentors: 05 October 2020

  • Acceleration Program: 03 October 2020 - 30 November 2020

  • Submission of Business Plans (Stage 2): 1 December 2020

  • Pitching Day (closed session): 17 December 2020 (tbc)

  • Final Conference and Award Ceremony: 18 December 2020 (tbc)


Competition Awards:


  • 1st Prize € 10,000

  • 2nd Prize € 5,000

  • 3rd Prize € 3,000


Other Awards:


  • Free hosting in KAYAK facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts or Berlin, Germany, for 1-3 months.

  • Free hosting in RISE – Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart Systems and Emerging Technologies facilities, for 6 – 12 months.
