The Cyprus Ports Authority has launched a tender for consulting services for the planned € 350 million expansion of Vasiliko Port. The tender covers front-end engineering design, detailed design and supervision of the first construction phase.

The expansion will include nine new berths, new breakwaters, a deepened access channel, and upgraded land infrastructure around the port. Once completed, Vasiliko is expected to handle approximately 1,770 ships per year.

The project carries an estimated cost of € 350 million, with Phase A budgeted at € 85 million. It has secured € 18.8 million in EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding to support its modernisation.

The project is intended to transform Vasiliko into Cyprus principal industrial and energy port, supporting commercial shipping, energy infrastructure and strategic maritime operations. The expansion seeks to strengthen capacity for industrial and energy-related cargo, with existing port infrastructure facing growing demands. By developing a modern deep-water port capable of accommodating larger vessels and higher cargo volumes, Vasiliko will provide additional national infrastructure capacity, reduce reliance on a limited number of maritime gateways, and improve the resilience of critical supply chains. The development is also closely linked to the wider Vasiliko energy and industrial zone, which hosts major fuel, power-generation and LNG facilities.
